I have found many people who hide vast oceans of emotion behind calm eyes and a poker face.

I have found those who are dying inside and hide it with giggles and a new pair of skinny jeans.

I have found people who pick the locks in between teeth, forcing everyone to smile as they rob hearts, living off the streets, the vagrants and vagabonds know how to tell a joke and make anyone choke on their words of annoyance if it means their electric creature with crackling wit will let their lightbulb eyes make contact. They know how to disarm, and they do it well, keeping their arms covered in the shell of cloth, knowing that being funny and insightful is all they've got.

I found that everyone is like me, a high rise with only vacancies, a tower which once had a twin, a symbol of life given to a grave, a soldier on his own without a commanding say, an emperor seated on a throne made of twigs, a god that wants to say "I never said i hate fags, i just hate figs" , a player on a stage with lines in a language everyone can speak but nobody can hear, the threat of truth and danger of fear, an empty promise, a saline tear.

And I'd like to think that deep down everyone is the same, but we choose to express our ideas of ourselves in different ways. However, I can't. We're all so different...from subtle variations in who and what we are to the most blanant lacking of similarities are all beautiful. And maybe nobody else will ever see anything quite like you, but that's okay. It's okay. If you say it enough times you might believe that it's really okay.

You are not your parents, you are not your mistakes, you are not the difficult choices you have made.

You are not becoming "you", as you have been all along. You don't need validation from a poem or a song, you do not need to be wanted to exist. You do not need a stranger tangled in sheets, or to kiss others and be sweet.

You're enough just as you are. You don't need to bow down to the ideas of who you must be, as there is no guarantee that life is fair... because it isn't, and it sure as hell hasn't been easy for you or I but the time has come for us to forgive ourselves, forgive our bodies, forgive our pasts.

And begin anew.

"You don't need validation from a poem or a song" I half-smiled, "you do not need to be wanted to exist." I smiled completely.

tears are salty, so saying 'saline tear' is technically a tautology.

that said, this is awesome. :D

Thank you, everyone, so much.

A, I'm just telling the truth, and i'm glad it struck a chord within you that let you smile.

To the last anon, ah, yes, I know. To clarify, it was meant to imply that someone had been crying so hard that tears rolled into their mouthes, and for a second they remembered that tears are in fact salty. Of course they always know this, but its never really on anyones mind until theyre tasting their own tears, you know?
