You don’t have to be getting beaten up or cheated on for someone to not be right for you.

Someone can be a wonderful, kind, fantastic human but just not be the right human being for you - and that’s ok.

I don’t think we’re told that enough. Don’t settle.

How do you know they are not right for you?

Lower your expectations or be alone.

You sound like someone I know.

True- but don’t expect perfection either- you end up alone- which is contrary to human nature (humans being pack animals- see pre-history and history for details).

Better to stay single than settle.

Love this.

Don't ever be afraid to be alone. It's not the worst thing in the world. It's honestly the bravest.

Because then you find yourself, know yourself, love yourself, and complete yourself...

And if love finds its way into your life, you'll be strong enough to recognize what you deserve.

I think it’s best to wait... for someone you will be spending a lot of time with. I have been told and I feel that it’s necessary to “feel” it - when it’s the right time and person for u, you will just know.

I've dealt with both situations in the past month, honestly. I was screwed over by someone for almost 4 years, so I finally drew myself away from him. Then I found that someone else was an amazing person, but they were not the right human for me, as you said. You are absolutely right, and it's heartbreaking to have seen both sides of the spectrum, as I imagine you have as well.

It’s not fair to you or the other person to stay in a relationship that just doesn’t seem quite right. It’s not that they don’t meet your expectations, they could be perfect, but your gut’s telling you they’re not the one. And that’s okay.

However, that doesn’t make it any easier to walk away from a good person.

Listen to your gut and don’t be afraid to follow it, even if that means you end up walking into the unknown.
