Today is a day for love letters

Today is a day when I wanted to tell you I don’t understand what love is

and I don’t understand what you meant when you said “I don’t want to hurt you”

and I don’t understand how to make you feel better when you’re upset

...but I’m learning

And I know that something makes my heart beat ten times faster when you say my name

And I know that waving hello across the room in the morning is sometimes the best part of my day

because I don’t understand what love is, or what it’s supposed to be, but I think this is it
