They say I’m too bright to be in such a dull town

But it’s funny,

Because when I lived inside fluorescent city lights

I still didn’t feel at home

The only time I’ve ever felt this feeling

Was when the border markers

Were your arms

Vined around my body

I’d never expected to find home in a skeleton braided with flesh

and in skin I never expected to find real estate

handwritten between your fingers

I never expected to find shelter under the umbrella of your freakishly long boy eyelashes

How is that even fair

That even when you don’t speak,

And your asleep,

Your heavy breathing still sounds like a symphony to my deaf ears
