Chester Bennington....
I grew up listening to your voice. All those DBZ AMVs I watched when YouTube first launched. When I was that shy awkward nerdy kid in elementary and middle school that didn't have much friends, I remember it was your voice in your music that helped boost my confidence. I remember when my brother was just a baby and your music was also what he heard as well. He loves you so much. He found out what happened today and he's sad. Sad that his role model passed away. I remember when a couple of months ago I felt suicidal as well.
I've attempted to kill myself on some occasions as well. But it was your voice on the song "Leave out all the rest" that helped me. The same song that helped me get over the tough emotional moments in my life where I felt at a all time low. When I was suffering from the unrequited love from my beloved, it was your voice in the words of that specific song that helped me get through it. Songs like "New divide" and "From the inside" and "Somewhere I Belong" is what kept me from taking my life. Now that your gone I feel a sadness deep within myself.
It rained briefly here in NYC here today. I think it was the the city's way to express its sorrow for your passing away.
As you mentioned in the song "Leave out all the rest"
"When my time comes forget the wrong that I've done, help me leave behind some reasons to be missed. And don't resent me, and when your feeling empty, keep me in your memory , leave out all the rest, leave out all the rest."
Me and my brother will always love you for the impact you had on us as we grew up from children to teen, and now as men .We blasted your music today and sang along to pay tribute to you. I know the world can speak the same for you.
You may be gone, but you're never over. Your LEGACY lives on.
